Austin Beaumount

Austin designed electronics/bionic eyes for theatrical acting jobs. In the early stage, Austin tried to ask almost all prop-houses in Los Angeles, but it had been unsuccessful due to liability reasons or crazy ideas. Austin decided to get it done by himself. He started having eye doctors working on a pair of plastic eyeballs. They had tried the diameter of eyeballs from 22mm to 28mm, and spent a few months to make sure the exact sizes and shapes, which could be fitted in Austin’s eye sockets. Austin then looked for a lot of graphic designers all over the world (from America to Europe, Africa, and Asia). Back in Los Angeles, California, Austin had a student (Nikea Lopez) from Pasadena Art Center do a traditional hand-painting for the iris. Finally, he got help from the Universal Studio Image Department (Sign Shop) to finish the iris and circuit board printing. Austin’s friends Jack Slagle and Darry Chou were taking care of the circuit board design, which got repeatedly modified because different components from several countries were tested.
This project started in October, 2017, and now we are at the final stage. 2021 - here we come!
