About Steven

Steven Williams career reflects a diverse multi-media background that includes radio production, music recording, television and film production and post-production. Williams recently completed producing the 4 episode HBO documentary “The Defiant Ones” for Silverback 5150 Films. “The Defiant Ones” is an epic story of the lives of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine and their influence on music, culture and the business world. Proceeding a transition into the producing arena, Williams had a multifaceted career at NBCUniversal.
Williams served as Vice President of Post Production Services for NBCUniversal StudioPost, a division of Operations & Technical Services (O&TS). StudioPost provided best-in-class post support that enabled NBCUniversal to produce, master, deliver and preserve the highest quality media content throughout the world. As Vice President of Post Production Services, Williams oversaw TV Post & Sound, Feature Sound, Feature Marketing, Projection, and Editorial Facilities, which was an expansion of his previous position as Vice President, Administration, Sound Services for Universal Studios Post Production & Media Services.
Williams joined NBCUniversal in 2002 as Supervising Sound Editor working as a Sound Supervisor on many pilots and television shows including four seasons on Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Williams provided feature sound supervision and sound design services on such high-profile projects as The Book of Eli, Dead Presidents, Broken City, and Menace II Society. In 2006, Williams transitioned to a management role as Director of Sound Services.
Williams is an Emmy Award winner and a member of both The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He has also served on the board of the Motion Picture Sound Editors. He is a member of International Documentary Association, Independent Features West and the Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers. Williams has been engaged as a guest lecturer at many professional & academic events. Williams was active in fostering new talent into the NBCU Sound department through mentoring and internship opportunities.
Williams attended the University of California, Berkeley.
He lives in Pasadena, CA with his wife, Clara. They have two children and two grandchildren.
