Hi! Has anybody around here used the pitching sessions? I´m curious!
Any successful case or anyone experienced the process?
If they decide to move forward, how doe sit work?
If they don´t would they let you know?
Thanks!

Cool, was just wondering. And you know I'm always rooting for you Regina. You always have great insight and advice.
Well, I had other answers lately, it's so different from an exec to another.

Based on the feedback that I'll be getting from these, I will have to decide whether to pursue this project as a movie script or a book. I'm prepared to do either but I will have to see positive comments on the script in order to persist with it as a film. Yes, I believe in it but do others? That's how important feedback is.
Hope all of you are well and safe.

I'm fortunate in that my day job allows for work from home. But I'm driving my wife crazy. She already works from home as a novelist and is trying to release a new book. As for me, I've completed 4 feature-length screenplays: Three DCOMs ("Disney Channel Original Movie" for the uninitiated), and one Female-Driven R-Rated Comedy.
I took one of my DCOMs and edited it into a 45 min play which I produced and directed in the Minnesota Fringe Festival last summer. A crazy, exhausting, yet rewarding experience.
My R-Rated Comedy is set in MN (and ND, IA, and Las Vegas). It's called "Poker Princesses."
My current goal is finishing my Christmas script. It has an "It's a Wonderful Life"-type plot.
That sounds busy, Mark. All the best. (My sympathy to your wife as she tries to release her book. :-) )

They are being snapped up now because networks like Lifetime, Hallmark and others want to produce them now for later this year. We work with an producer/director - Courtney Smith Jr. - who specializes in developing these types of films. If you ever want feedback, he is your man! Check him out on our Script Services page. We started out a bit shaky. I recruited actors from my daughters Performing Arts academy, but only got just enough try-outs to fill out the teen roles. I filled the rest with applicants from Minnesota Playlist. I have one drop out right away and another later. I didn't have the luxury of extra roles that could fill in. Between schedule difficulties and illness, I never had everyone together until opening night.
One of my teen actors had some issues with direction and focus. She even showed up to one performance and forgot her costume. Of course, it was the night I paid to have it videotaped.
But, we goth through and all showed up for all 5 performances. I got some good reviews and a memorable experience. Would I do it again?
(long pause)
Perhaps.
Fourteen year-old Tucker loves video games and hanging with friends, but his crush, Emma rebuffs his advances as she feels he’s too “basic” and not adventurous. When Tucker is unfairly sent to detention, he discovers the schools hides a secret treasure and sets out on an adventure to find it and win Emma’s heart.
Teen Mackenzie, who struggles with Asperger’s, desperately wants friends. Popular classmate Kayla desperately wants a beautiful dress for the dance—and secretly can’t afford it. The two strike a deal: a new dress for a new BFF. Queen bee Allison vows to break up this new friendship before it can ruin her perfect clique.

As an older dad, I was inspired to write three teen/tween screenplays. I've entered the first one in a couple of contests and am working on revising the other two. I also am working on an adult, raunchy, female comedy because there just aren't enough old white guys writing the female experience out there.
Interested in meeting other screenwriters from MN. I'll buy you a drink if you're near Eagan and we can commiserate.
Nice to meetcha Mark. From the Ike era - you're still a young'un (I'm a war baby). I'm in OR so you'll have to have a beer by yourself.
Good Luck Mark!

We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
