User & budget friendly camera for new filmmaker

I’ve decided to try my hand at filmmaking. Any suggestions on an inexpensive camera that is user friendly for this writer turned filmmaker? And any other equipment I may need for a 20 minute short?

Hello, Ty. A nice DSLR should work just fine Nikon 7200 or Canon buy them used or reconditioned so that you can get a better deal. And don't forget the lenses. You should also consider purchasing a light kit within your budget. If all else fails, hire me to direct your film. =)
