Bio

Hazel Dolphy super proud Jamaican, was born in the parish of St. Andrews on December 10.
Hazel migrated to the U.S.A at a young age and grew up in Brooklyn, New York.

In the early 90's, Hazel learned that a movie would be filmed at her high school, Samuel J. Tilden in Brooklyn, New York. Hazel was intrigued. "When they started to shoot, I was all over it! I'd come home so late. I'd get in trouble with my mom but I was an extra in a movie." Hazel recalls. "The opportunities I thought I had of breaking into the movie business made up for the trouble that awaited me at home. I stayed on set every night until wrap time. It was during that filming of, 'Above the Rim', that I fell head over heels in love with sets, big lights and that oh-so-lovely word 'ACTION'.

While pursuing acting, Hazel never forgot the importance of pursuing higher education and enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the tender age of 16. Hazel joined the drama club, participated in school theater productions, and took on other jobs behind the scenes. Hazel received a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology and minored in Speech and Theatre.

Hazels determination to make it in show business, led to her decision to create and establish her own production company, Dolphy Productions, LLC.
Growing tired of waiting to be cast amongst her peers in the industry, her company's mission is based on the basic principle of passion and destiny: the passion to perform, and the destiny to make a difference by producing great work for struggling actors.
Hazel was elated to produce her first stage production, UNVEILINGS in April 2005. Written and creatively assisted by the playwright herself, P.J. Gibson.
In 2011, Hazel wrote, directed, and acted her first short film, "Happiness Is Vanished". Since then Hazel has created and produced several media projects/short films.
In 2018, she will begin principal photography for her web series, RELATIONSHIP, Drama Series.

She is a woman who knows what she wants and how she’s going to get it. Hazel is confident that her time to shine will happen in Gods time and realizes that preparation is everything.
With her strong knowledge of the craft and undeniable talent, she relishes the opportunity to play roles that are challenging, both to her and the audience.
"I want to be remembered as an actress that made people give a damn. I want people to say, 'I love the way Hazel played the hell out of that role.' She makes me proud to be a woman ... to be an entertainer."
