The world is a confusing place for our plucky protagonist, and even a friendly visitor to the camp can seem like a dangerous situation. John August's animatic for a short film needed some music to breath life into the action. We went with a slightly off-kilter melody performed by both Western and African instruments to hint at a larger musical world outside of the camp.

I wrote a lyrical, pulsing piece to lead the viewer into the bedtime scene, allowing it trail off before the terrifying moment when the covers are ripped off. Horror movie music is fun to compose!
