Stan Lee tells a great story of him bringing Spider Man to his editor and the editor saying “no one will ever buy this”. But Stan believed and knew. And he had the experience.

From a producer's POV, what is the biggest tip (or one of the biggest) for writers who are writing micro-budget scripts (to keep the budget micro)?
Hello all! I hope you enjoy this 20 minute video and get some pointers as I use my latest film ASK ME TO DANCE as a case study on how to get a film going from conception to release!

"VESTED INTEREST" Investment can be humanitarian Eg help on set, talent or an otherwise unobtainable location that happens because a sponsor's passion about the project was ignited. (Always felt that.) "DON'T OVER POLICE" Safety and insurance are crucial but once in place I may over think it. I can ride the wave of writing/directing 24/7 but guilty of an occasional nagging neurosis, "What might happen?" Great you decided you couldn't let the first version of your film die in the wood, passion will out! Couldn't agree more about a "Built In" fan base prior to trying to get the film out there particularly someone like me who is "Indie."

You have gathered an outstanding cast of actors and actresses. I look forward to watching it. I am envious that you know ballroom dancing and that you love it. I have always wanted to learn. The advice you give about branding makes complete sense. I definitely agree with the vested interest approach. I feel that it would make working together the most rewarding. Your candid honesty was very refreshing. The phrase "Butts in seats," love it!
Thank you Sandra!!
You're welcome!! I hope you are having a fantastic Sunday. :)
I love how Tom followed his love for dancing and combined it with so many of his other skills to create something unique. Absolutely incredible! And he's going to be in the Producer's Lounge on Tuesday, 10/4 answering questions if you have any!
Great article, Tom! You're so right...it's so much more than money. I'm so grateful for my current team that believes in my script and their willingness to put their valuable time to get the thing made. It's similar to your passion for dance, but wrestling. I really hope Ask Me to Dance makes it to a theater near me. Looks fantastic! Congrats.
