About John

John Nicholls has recently completed work on the second and third seasons of Ransom for CBS, Global, eOne, Big Light Productions and Sienna Films. Prior to that he was part of the first and second seasons of the CBC/iTV series Little Dog starring Joel Thomas Hynes, Katherine Isabelle and Mary Walsh, produced by Cameron Pictures, Elemental Pictures and Sherry White, along with the CTV/Netflix mini-series The Indian Detective starring Russell Peters, William Shatner and Anupam Kher for Producer Frank Spotnitz, CTV/Bell Media and Blue Ice Productions.

His upcoming projects include Lloyd Looses Everthing from Aris Athanasopoulos, Sailor from Jacob Wiebe, and the currently in-production first season of Nurses from Ilana Frank and Adam Pettle for Global and eOne.
Previously in 2017, he was invited to Miami, Florida to be part of the first season of I Am Frankie for Nickelodeon and Paradiso Pictures, along with completing Parkdale from filmmakers Aris Athanasopoulos and Kevin Walker.

In 2016, John edited the Emmy-Nominated TV Movie Terrific Trucks Save Christmas (Director Richard Rotter and Producer Michael Kessler) for NBC Universal. He also cut both seasons, and the TV Movie Summer Splash for Make It Pop, as well as episodes of The Other Kingdom, all from creator Tom Lynch, produced by DHX Media for Nickelodeon and Family Channel.
Since 2015, Nicholls has edited Rio Heat (Director Stephen S Campanelli, Executive Producer Jon Cassar, and Producer Ken Gord), Fatal Pictures' Heir (Director Richard Powell and Producer Zach Green), Chameleon (Director Reza Dahya), and Age of Reason (Director Lisa Rose Snow and Producer Lora Campbell).

Some notable projects since 2012 include three feature films: Looking is the Original Sin (Gail Harvey, Director), Sex After Kids (Jeremy LaLonde, Director) and End of Days, Inc (Jennifer Liao, Director) as well as the BravoFACT projects The Sweetest Hippopotamus and The Last Halloween (Marc Roussel, Director) and the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival selected short film Out (Jeremy LaLonde, Director).

For nearly a decade, John honed his craft by working alongside some of Canada's biggest editing talents on shows such as Lionsgate's Nurse 3D, Netflix's Hemlock Grove, Jon Cassar's Forsaken, CTV's Saving Hope, YTV/Disney XD's Wingin' It and YTV/Teen Nick's Life with Boys.

John Nicholls is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada and the Canadian Cinema Editors association, as well as an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre.
