Michael Stillwater is an artistic innovator, using music, words, and images. An educator, illustrator, award-winning songwriter, recording artist and filmmaker, his expertise is recognizing and artistically addressing the essence of societal issues. Stillwater’s work spans genres and defies classification while weaving personal insights with universal principles. Founder of Song Without Borders, focused on personal and societal transformation through song. Artist/founder of Inner Harmony, he is creator of SongCare, a personalized intuitive therapeutic artistry serving individuals, couples and organizations since 1982, and SongSourcing, a unique method helping reconnect people with their inner songmaker.

From his experience with terminally ill patients and their families, the book and recording, Graceful Passages: A Companion For Living and Dying, co-produced with Emmy-award winning film composer Gary Malkin and contemplative psychologist Doris Laesser Stillwater, with
over 100,000 sold, has become the leading audio resource in hospice for reducing anxiety around dying. Stillwater is a pioneer in the fields of American folk chant and intuitive song and facilitates collaborative artistic expression in schools, churches, and communities.

His documentary film series, In Search of The Great Song,
addresses the underlying music inside everyone. The first feature-length episode, Shining Night (2012), called ‘a heartening rarity’ by Wall Street Journal was voted Best Documentary at three film festivals, including the DC Indie Film Festival.

With his wife, Doris Laesser Stillwater, he balances his time between Europe and America.
