Three species of raptors in Australia are said to have the ability to pick up flaming sticks to drop them further away, this lights new fires and flushes out even more prey. This hunting method is yet to be captured on camera but Aboriginal people have always known them as "firehawks", and their activity is not always a positive for other creatures. G'day Chris! What an awesome background you have! What was it like to cover NASA's skylab crashing into the Australian desert? Nothing like pressure for one of your first radio shifts.

Expand commentIncredible Amanda, but I managed to get a lot of experts on board even before we had any inkling it was going to land in Australia (nobody had any idea at the time) That included a guy from the U.S. Consulate in Melbourne who had fortunately worked with NASA on the space program, he kindly stayed with me all night. Not so kind was the local Shire Council (county) who issued NASA with a fee for "littering"... which they promptly paid!
