Dina Faye Gilmore is an award-winning director, filmmaker, screenwriter, and photographer, 4-time bestselling author, Shamanic Practitioner and professional psychic. I thrive in collaborations, women-led or driven projects that inspire and empower others through film. I utilize my creative gifts as a storyteller, visual healer, and intuition. I merge my artistic creations with healing aspects and incorporate them into my art that provides a foundation of healing and safe space. I love writing strong female leads with moving stories that awaken vulnerability, feature relatable material, and empower viewers to build a better world through understanding, connection, and female representation. The majority of my projects from writing to film are rooted from real life from my heart. I am thrilled when viewers can walk away feeling moved and inspired for healing or at least shifting through change.
My award-winning directorial debut short "Baby in the Basement" was written by my screenwriting mentor/teacher, but I chose the story as my first film because I resonated with the piece as it was very similar to my real life. I wanted teens to see this vantage point as a wake up call, for parents to realize their children may be hurting, need to feel seen, be heard, and loved no matter who they choose to be. Being unique is the beauty of individuality and learning from one another how to become better versions of ourselves instead of forcing someone into a box to fit unrealistic programming standards. Creating powerful and moving stories that awaken vulnerability, feature relatable material and inspire viewers to build a better world is the ultimate personal goal. My dream is to continue doing what I love, but in a society that thrives on understanding, supports equality, and commands equity. Film is a chance to paint the new masterpiece of life.
I created my own production company late 2019, Empowerment Productions 33, to showcase projects supporting women, minorities and the LGBTQ+ community. There have not been local opportunities as a female filmmaker, especially being a director, and representing the queer community. I love collaborating, so reach out if you are in need of a director.
