Hello everyone. I recently formed a feature-film production company with veteran Hollywood filmmakers David Massey and Rodney Allen Hooks. David Massey has been nominated for an Academy Award. Rodney Allen Hooks, like myself, is a veteran screenwriter-director-producer. Massey-Hooks-Mayer Entertainment is our company. Our first slate of feature films has just been completed for the coming New Year.

Some remarkable milestones, Vicente. Curious what you've done to build that audience. I bet many here would love to learn some of your strategies. Congratulations!

So this is a networking lounge for us who artistically create music. Tell us more about how you do the creation. Do you mix live and electronic together? Do all live tracks? Tell more about the challenge of latin percussion and rhythms. I personally find my self weak in that area and found myself learning and experimenting with percussion earlier this summer with a drum set and a bongo ending up with https://soundcloud.com/joelirwin/nino?in=joelirwin/sets/almost-alone-as-.... And even after doing this track (which I guess is suitable for a chase scene or similar fast action scene), I found the rhythms too 'regular'.

I am curious with your background, how do you achieve the irregular and complex latin rhythms common with live performance. Do you score out all the hits on all the instruments yourself (like I did in the above piece), or do you piece together segments offered by a vendor which can often be tempo customized.

Hi, Yeah you are right. I do mix Electronic sounds created with the music software and then I add my live touch on guitar Bass and Latin percussion.

Each Latin music style has its own patterns. On top of this basic pattern, we can add some extra feelings on each individual instrument.

So, the first thing we should do to play the Bongo on Bolero style, for example, is to learn the Bolero pattern and some variations, then, we can add some improvizations on top.
