THE SHELTER

THE SHELTER
By Cesar Terradas

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

Never underestimate the risks. John and Lucia wanted to escape the routine and took shelter in the forest, although the woods didn't have the same plans in store for them.

SYNOPSIS:

John and Lucia decide to spend the day in the forest to escape their routine. They get distracted and lose track of time, and their outing lasts too long. They become disoriented and, with no phone reception in the area, they can’t use their GPS. They argue and suddenly realize they are caught in a dense fog. They can’t see each other and get separated. Lucia runs, stumbles, and ends up at the door of a mysterious shelter. She goes inside looking for John; instead, she finds some colorful characters who are not surprised by her arrival. John spends the night in the open and waits for the fog to clear. The next morning, he runs all over the woods looking for a phone signal to call emergency services. With the help of police agents and search dogs, John desperately tries to find his girlfriend. Will he find her? Will Lucia be able to escape from the shelter?

I am impressed with the quality of the loglines I am reading as I struggle after 45 episodes written of my show, to come up with one for me, and believe me, you are all being very helpful. It's a clearly stated and well written concept with all the requirements of a logline. My one reservation that makes me hesitant to go any further is it seems like a story told over and over many times, but who knows? Maybe that's because it's the type of story that grabs people. There are elements of that clearly in my own story, Chrysalis - The Family Adventure(s) embedded within many other themes. It does entice me in one way, however, which is a testament to your writing skill - It makes me intrigued to know how this one forest deals with these two naive young kids, what adventures (speaking of adventures) lie in store for them. It's good and you should be able to sell this or at least get someone to read your script.
