Hello, my name is Jack, and I'm a screenwriter. ("Hi, Jack," the crowd responds.)
Though I've been a member of the site for a while now, I've spent most of my time here browsing and availing myself of the library of resources (blog posts, videos, and such); but aside from coverage and notes, I've not really spent any time reaching out to others.
This ends today, apparently. It's time to start working on my networking and my pitching skills. Don't get me wrong: I'll still go dark sometimes to do the actual writing, but I need to stop doing so much of this in a vacuum. Recently I received a "Double Recommend" from a producer here on Stage 32; and aside from a few tweaks here and there, this script seems ready for the next phase: other people.
So I'm writing the pitch now -- which will inevitably include pitch seminars, pitch practice, failure, learning, and back -- but it's time, it seems.
That being said, if there's any suggestions or advice you experts have for me, or if there's any advice I can offer you newcomers, or if you just want to connect and give each other notes on scripts or ideas...
...this is me, coming out of the shadows, reaching out to a community.
Happy writing.

Expand commentHi everyone! I'm getting ready to launch my crowdfunding campaign on Seed and Spark for my short film Walls, a look at how we've built walls to hide behind throughout history and how people have faced down those walls in search of a better life. Has anyone had any experience with crowdfunding through Seed and Spark? I'd love some feedback.
