Yes, LA Actors can be pretty good

I know these guys from CalArts. They're now a theater collective based in LA and they're called Poor Dog Group. Yes, they experiment with language and gesture, but they also perform with a rigor and respect for the craft of acting that deserves to be studied. If you're an actor able to absorb from o...

To film or not to film?

Hey Guys! I'm producing my first short film and was just wondering your ideas on fundraising. We are planning to have an Indiegogo page and I was wondering if you think people are more likely to donate/invest if we have a video of our Director talking about the film or should it be more? :) Any suggestions appreciated!

David Silvers

You need to put a promo on demo tape; and promote it for $5.00 on http://fiverr.com/ as a souvenir and ad.I will help!

Stuart Inman

I would definitely consider doing a bit more than just a talking head video. Try looking at campaigns on IGG/Kickstarter that have very little time left in their fundraising windows and still need lots of money - you'll see what works and what doesn't. Best of luck!!

Jorge Castaneda

Hi Natalie. If you're going to go the KS or IG route, I'd say your pitch video has got to pop -- as some have already mentioned on this thread -- that's the most important thing. If you're doing the K...

There are so many of us here with amazing talents

There are so many of us here with amazing talents, skills and abilities; and who are serious about our craft. It seems such a struggle (individually) in this industry to get projects off the ground and to the people. Wouldn't it be awesome if some of us here could "truly" connect to launch a project...

When presenting a script how can I keep it protected?

So i'm always wanting other screenwriters to read portions of my script or previous drafts to get feed back on certain characters or themes but i've become more hesitant since the script is now it it's third draft and it's becoming more polished. I guess i'm afraid of someone stealing my story or my...

Labcoat Meerkat Is Confused About Crowding Funds

The link takes you to a no-budget training video: http://kck.st/XqDrRf It's like a real one you might watch at a regular job -- only this one is on purpose funny. Then, help us crowd a fund if you like. Best.

Funding your project.

I know of Kickstarter, working on that, I also know of grants but is there another way to fund the project, another site perhaps?

Jorge Castaneda

Indiegogo. Somewhat similar model as KS only without the "all or nothing" aspect. The thing about crowd-funding is, you want to provide free, interesting content via a website (or some other platform)...
