I would definitely consider doing a bit more than just a talking head video. Try looking at campaigns on IGG/Kickstarter that have very little time left in their fundraising windows and still need lots of money - you'll see what works and what doesn't. Best of luck!!

Hi Natalie. If you're going to go the KS or IG route, I'd say your pitch video has got to pop -- as some have already mentioned on this thread -- that's the most important thing. If you're doing the KS, 30 days is what's recommended, along with having a team (of at least 3) pulling 4-8 hours of outreach on a daily basis. I, too, wish you would share your project and journey with the Stage 32 folks. As you asked, wouldn't it be awesome if some of us here could truly connect to launch a project. Now that it has launched it's a shame you have closed off everyone else rather than sharing. A waste of a beautiful community opportunity.

I fail to see the waste. But you are entitled to your opinion. One of the reasons that we have opted to move forward and focus on the project is to not spend time and energy contending with splitting hairs about how we should do what we are doing...we will work that out within the group; not the forum. For the record, we will make our plight and process known. But when and how will not be dictated by others. Again, thanks for sharing.

Well done Denise for getting the project off the ground. Well done to all those who got involved too. I think its fair to say that Denise gave everyone the opportunity on stage 32 to get involved if they wanted to. Now that those who stood up and leapt forward are on board, I too dont think you need to share every step. When its done then it can be shown. This is the reason why Denise is keeping quiet, no one wants any form of negativity around their projects. God Bless you Denise, keep doing what your doing. I use to give out all my business on facebook, I decided to keep some things back for myself. When my work is complete then I can share. Everyone who follows me knows I market myself, ive gone quiet because its time to. Denise you marketed what you wanted on here, you got it, now its time to be silent until its complete. Anything happening on this project? I know you don't want us to know much about it but I'm a curious fellow who would love to work on something like this. Anything you can tell us? Are the two individuals in CA, the gentleman in VA and one in NY still on board? Is there anything I can do here in CA? After one year I've come back to s32 and am surprised to see this thread still rolling forward. Thanks for all the responses everyone! I'm happy that someone else might be learning something from this thread, and thankfully i've just been focusing on my writing (and re-writing) rather than the fear of stolen ideas. When the time comes i'll send my copy written script to trusted sources, with the knowledge that theft happens but not as much as people say. Irrational fear of my ideas being stolen will only keep me from my career.

Indiegogo. Somewhat similar model as KS only without the "all or nothing" aspect. The thing about crowd-funding is, you want to provide free, interesting content via a website (or some other platform) as a show of good faith and to exhibit your potential as a creative. I'd also recommend checking out Ted Hope and Jon Reiss. They discuss ideas that can strengthen your KS and/or IG campaigns (among other things.) Ideas like "early audience engagement" and the role of PMD, or "Producer of Marketing and Distribution" can go a long way in developing your pitch package. If you put in the hours, this can open up the possibility of creating your own LLC and Business Plan. If you go this route, which again, is a lot of work, you may be able to approach private investors with a cohesive BP complete with revenue projections and a confident, well thought-out distribution strategy. This may increase your chances at raising funds to supplement your crow-sourcing methods. Oh yeah, another guy I'd recommend is John W. Cones. "43 Ways to Finance Your feature Film." Hope this helps.
