About JD

Produced and optioned screenwriter, traditionally published author, journalist.

Previous projects include co-writing BAFTA-winning kids' TV series Ripley and Scuff for ITV and writing/editing ITV's BAFTA-nominated movie website Popcorn. I also scripted TV shows and video specials for popular British children's characters, and had an original live action kids' sitcom optioned (and renewed twice).

More recently, my animation pilot was chosen to be performed by voice actors at 2021's UK Children's Media Conference. I had a script optioned by Lost Eye Films for a TV horror/fantasy anthology series. A very early draft of my horror movie screenplay Cloudhouse placed Top 10% in PAGE International and is now under option.

I've also written for BBC, Oxford University Press, Creature Media, Marvel Comics (UK), Gullane Entertainment Inc, Pickatale and many others. That includes high profile licensed material, short fiction, comics, movie journalism & interviews, and sports entertainment.

Currently completing fiction projects - plus lots of magazine work: I'm lead writer for a multi-award winning kids' nature mag Eco Kids Planet, write features about classic movies and TV for Yours Retro, and write regular cover features for Science+Nature.
