Go Indie Now at HollyShorts 2023: Sevap Mitzvah FIlmmaker Sabina…
Go Indie Now has the distinct privilege and opportunity to cover one of our favortie artfoms in the Short Film thanks to the HollyShorts Film Festival 2023. So along with giving you some our favorites via our review blog (https://freshbutteredpopcorn.blogspot.com/) we have some interviews with some of the filmmakers.
This interview is with Sabina Vajraca about her Hollyshorts Official 2023 Selection, Sevap/Mitzvah. Which is a film that tells a fictional account of a real life event in which Zejneba Hardaga helped many of her Jewish neighbors escape persecution from the Nazis during World War II in Bosnia and the extrodinary parallel some 50 years later in which Zejnaeba experienced during the Bosnian War.
Joe Compton sat down with Sabina to talk all about the challenges of even just creating a short film period piece while maintaining authencity and hornoing the memory of Zejneba and what her and her family did. JJoe also talks to Sabina about creating art that is so personal to her and how she started in documentaries but now prefers the narrative space.
