This interview is with FIlmmaker Christopher Macken whose short film Punk Rock Thriller For The Safety of Theo played at the festival and at many others to come. It tells the story of Theo who suffers from a form of OCD that has caused him to tailspin after a one-night stand. Joe Compton sat down with Christopher to talk about developing this film, the importance of a different type of focus on OCD, and how the pacing and acting contributed to making this film what it is. This interview is with Sabina Vajraca about her Hollyshorts Official 2023 Selection, Sevap/Mitzvah. Which is a film that tells a fictional account of a real life event in which Zejneba Hardaga helped many of her Jewish neighbors escape persecution from the Nazis during World War II in Bosnia and the extrodinary parallel some 50 years later in which Zejnaeba experienced during the Bosnian War. Joe Compton sat down with Sabina to talk all about the challenges of even just creating a short film period piece while maintaining authencity and hornoing the memory of Zejneba and what her and her family did. JJoe also talks to Sabina about creating art that is so personal to her and how she started in documentaries but now prefers the narrative space.
