I prefer to begin by the novel. In fact, the literature is the mother of the cinema. It's better to read more than to watch if you wanna be a original screenwriter.

Brandon Keeton such a timely reminder. Something I don't do often enough either but today I was thinking that I really 'should'. It doesn't come natural to me however I suspect taking time out to rest and appreciate actually makes our work better when we get back to it. What do you reckon?

Erik David wow I appreciate your deep thinking! I imagine you have gained these nuggets from lots of experience. The part of me that believes in manifesting does not like the idea there is no such thing as free will.......

The amount of commitments one has determines the amount of time you can commit to creativity. Re, must feed the family. So a clock in and out time is good to organise.

Being popular/commercial, following the trends, helps pay the bills but many times is not fulfilling if you value pure creative freedom. Market economy.

Not caring what people think about you is a great skill to have but can inhibit self growth if unwilling to, at least, acknowledge positive feedback and look at yourself constructively.

My story is that I'm not very popular at all and had to wait until retirement to produce what felt good inside.

So be happy dancing in front of the mirror if that is your only audience. Our need to seek attention from our peers in a born trait but not so necessary in modern society, unless you want to make lots of money.

For many, it often comes down to weighing the exposure and opportunity against the financial and logistical strain. And let’s be honest, self-funding travel for a one-day gig can add up quickly if it’s not something sustainable long term.

This is why building a network in multiple markets, like you’ve done, can be such a game-changer. And for actors without that built-in flexibility, it’s so important to be part of a community like this where we can trade resources, housing tips, or even just moral support.

I've had fewer than 48 hours notice--twice. I made it work because I could drop everything the minute I was officially booked and arrange flights, a rental car, etc. And of course last minute flights are usualy more expensive.

Even though I have somewhere to stay, I've chosen a hotel because that somewhere can be far from set and I'd rather not drive strange roads in the wee hours . Another time they changed the shoot date after I'd made my arrangements, so I had to pay some fare changes, and I had to stay for 8 days to film one day.

It's not for everyone. And I've heard a few casting directors say they've been burned by actors saying they were in city A when they really were in city B, so to me pays to be honest even if in the end they might choose a true local over you.

I'd go as far as necessary if I really want to be part of that project.

As an actor, I did not set boundaries for my acting job. Local as well as remot I am ready for. If there is a boundary, it got to do with the contract conditions. If the conditions are ok, and I like the part then no boundary I jump in and do the job.

We can't put ourselves in your place because we haven't walked in your shoes, but if I have to answer your question one day, I'll say I'm happy that I'm having fun, I'm happy that my family is with me, I'm happy that I have food, and I'm thinking about the future, not like the people of Africa, not like the people of Gaza, not like the people of Ukraine, not like all the weak groups who have nothing, and I'm trying to help them too.

I love listening to different kinds of music. Sometimes I watch movies to critique them and apply some of the techniques that I've learned in screenwriting. I unplugged from the computer and all social media. I do a lot of visualization exercises of myself reaching my screenwriting goals. I set new goals and work on new shows.

When you are busy with your career and you get tired, I think it's not your career, it's someone else's career that you are busy with. Otherwise, when a person is busy with his career, he doesn't get tired at all, but his energy to do his work doubles.

Those are both great points. Just saying no to an audition is so smart. I have done that as well.

Ultimately being likeable probably gets us further in life than anything else. Thank goodness you said 'yes' to the stunt as it is so striking and memorable.

Thank you very much. I don't think I would have said yes to doing the stunt if I didn't have the stunt coordinator to give me a "crash course - no pun intended" Agreeing to falling 8 feet off a train platform could have been very risky and dangerous.
