Babatunde Akinlade

Writing and directing my first ever animated feature

Hello Everyone

My name is Babatunde Akinlade (Tunde for short). I am a Nigerian living & studying in Dallas TX. Figured I’d finally introduce myself after all this time. Being a lover of film and great storytelling through its various mediums, I made the decision to venture out of my comfort zone at the beginning of the year by pursuing my dream of writing and directing my first animated feature. Titled “Ọ̀rìṣà” my animation is inspired by the oral history, traditions and mythology of the Yoruba people of Nigeria to which I belong. It has been quite an interesting journey thus far. I am excited to meet and network with fellow writers, artists, and people who share the same love and passion for storytelling that I do.

Mike Boas

Hi Tunde! C’mon over to the animation lounge. We’d love to see some samples of your work.

Maurice Vaughan

I like your artwork, Babatunde Akinlade. What genre is your feature?

Keith Wilhelm Kopp

That's great to hear, the artwork has unique and accomplished look.

Babatunde Akinlade

Maurice Vaughan Thank you. It’s a historical fantasy.

Babatunde Akinlade

Ashley Renee Smith Thank you so much :)

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Babatunde Akinlade. Cool. I'm not sure if I've seen a historical fantasy movie before. Who's the guy in the artwork?

Babatunde Akinlade

Maurice Vaughan That is Sango. He is the Yoruba god of fire, thunder and lightning, and believed to be one of the most powerful Orisas. The Yoruba oral history goes that he was a king of the Oyo empire of old. A mighty and fierce warrior, whose exploits in life earned him a place among the revered deities upon his death.

Maurice Vaughan

Sounds like an exciting movie, Babatunde Akinlade! How's the script coming along?

Elena Maro

Nice to meet you, Babatunde Akinlade and congratulations on working on your first animation feature...I read the comments and the story sounds truly captivating!

Babatunde Akinlade

Elena Maro Thank you so much. Nice to meet you as well.

Babatunde Akinlade

Maurice Vaughan Thank you. I am on a third draft making a couple changes; mostly to the pacing. Its been exciting. Not without its challenges of course, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You're welcome, Babatunde Akinlade. That's great! I recommend registering your script with the U.S. Copyright Office and checking out Stage 32's Script Services once you're finished (www.stage32.com/scriptservices).

I also recommend posting your logline, synopsis, and script in the Logline Section of your profile. Producers, execs, etc. search members' profiles for projects. You might find a producer for your project that way.
