Hello everyone,
I am making a post about how to increase more people visiting my Patreon and pledging to my project so I can get it fully off the ground and maybe afford to pay people for their time and efforts by being part of my project's team. The projects I've been working on for a long time haven't attracted much attention, and I want to know if I've created boring concepts, which is why so many people pass by it without so much a second glance. So the two projects that I've been working on for many years are currently being worked on, with one being DOA and the other being close to being DOA unless I find a few audio engineers to help me produce it as an audio drama.
The first and most prominent project I'm working on is titled Angelic Lane has been a big project with me taking on many duties such as the creator, writer, director, casting director, producer, artist, and promotional person. So I am trying my best to make it a success. I created a Patreon for it so I can hire some people to take some of the duties off my load and focus on writing and directing, but no luck because the project might be boring, uninteresting, or not for modern audiences.
The second project is called The Moreaus. The project already has an original theme song created by a member of my team that wanted to get some experience in creating a theme song for the series. That's all we have for pro-bono original works besides the scripts. The cast of the team are aspiring voice actors, and I am so grateful to them. But I want to pay them for their time and efforts. I also wanted to make the series animated, but I chose audio drama format to offset the costs it'd be if I did hire animators. This project has been done for nearly nine years and hasn't seen a dent in being released because I've had cast members leave the project, and its lack of funding is its downfall.
The reason why it was created was when Fuller House was being promoted; I decided that I wanted to make a sitcom so my younger cousin could have a television series that features people that look like her and that she wouldn't fall into the trap of blonde, blue-eyed characters being the dominant television stars. So I wrote the Moreaus series loosely based on our family. This project has been deemed as "controversial" because I didn't have any "queer" characters as main characters, the storylines weren't "black enough," and I didn't use much AAVE (African American Vernacular English) in the dialogue as apparently, it was a language that needed to be used when creating a black series.
So The Moreaus has been ignored by so many people on Patreon for the above reasons. So it's been tossed into the DOA pile until I figure out how to fix things.
So my question is if there is a "magic touch" to marketing my Patreon. Is there a rule that I have to build a big enough community to get people to check it out and pledge, or should I hope that luck shines down on me for people to pledge?
Any tips, tricks of the trade, or recommendations would be fantastic! These projects are things that I want to see become a reality.
Thank you so much to everyone that's read my post, and thank you in advance for your comment,s questions, and feedback!
