Sweet Stage32, I am Satu. I have been a member for four years now! Not very active though, so thought I'd say "Hi!" once the site prompted me to introduce myself... I am a trained actress, but have been away from the craft for a little while - busy with Masters in Film Screenwriting (which I finished two years ago already!) and then spending some time in India doing volunteer stuff with yoga and translations. Which brings me to this question: How does one enter the industry after a long break? I'm having trouble deciding where to begin, with both acting and writing. My interest in promoting anything, especially myself, has come down considerably and the decision on where to base myself seems really hard. It is also difficult to go back to my scripts, both of them waiting eagerly to be re-read and re-written... And the hours, days, months, years just roll by :D

Hello, Satu! Hope you're having a great day. Your post brings me to this question: what would you love to do?

Hey Satu. Just think of all the contacts you would have and, by virtue of that, the exposure to your work, if you started networking 4 years ago! Hope you'll remain out here in the light!

Hah Richard :D I know! Tough not to have regrets thinking that way though... Every day is a new beginning? I guess I went on a little journey to know myself better! That can never be a waste. I guess this networking thing is something of a intimidating beast to me... Shawn - these are the profound questions, right? I would love to be a part of projects that move people on some emotional and/or spiritual level, whether as an actor or a writer. Or as something else even. Being part of something that makes at least a small change. Makes a little dent in the superficial surface of human thinking. Cracks something open. But then there's always the necessity to earn money too :D Is it really so, that following your passion will bring you all you need?

Every day is indeed a new beginning. I can promise you that if you take some baby steps forward, as it relates to this community, you'll be running in no time. There simply isn't a friendlier, more positive and collaborative space for creatives anywhere in the world. I've been inspired by this community every day for the last 4 years. I believe you'll be as well!

Hey, Satu! I believe you need a passionate plan. I, too, want to be a part of something special that moves the world to a better place. But that's a broad statement. Have you thought about a plan/mission statement with specific, tangible goals?

Hello, Satu. I'd be happy to do a script swap with you (I read and provide feed-back on your spec, you read & provide feed-back on one of mine). Let me know it that might help get you back into working on your scripts again.

Yes, Shawn, plans are not my strong point... Tangible goal right now is to get some discipline back so can finish next drafts of my two scripts! And then do a script swap with Sarah :) I like that idea, thank you for suggesting! My scripts just aren't in a state to be read right now. Not because I'm precious about them, but because haven't been able to implement the changes I know I need to make before getting more feedback.

That's fantastic, Satu! Glad to help. But you did the work. When you let S32 in on the problem, S32 lets you in on solutions. And creatives like Sarah step to the plate! Way to work the site, ladies. Happy Friday, friends.
