Remote post-production services from Malaga, Spain

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I had to close my studio in Argentina back in 2020 because of the pandemic. I started my career in 1990 when I opened my first music production and recording studio, which in 2001 became almost exclusively a post-production sound studio for film and audiovisual projects.

That same year, I thankfully switched to remote/freelance work through Upwork, and that's what I've been doing ever since.

Just a couple of days ago, I found out about this awesome platform, Stage 32, so here I am, ready for new projects!

My wife and I moved to Spain a year ago, and that's been a game-changer for me to think about moving my career forward.

As I mentioned in my intro, I have over 23 years of solid experience in sound post-production and in all specialties:

Dialogue editing

Backgrounds and ambiences

Foley

Scoring

Mixing

I also do editing, subtitling, translations, and dubbing from English to Spanish. Thanks again for welcoming me to this group. Like any freelancer, any project that needs my services is more than welcome.

You can check out my work and credits on IMDb and my website: https://waldermartinez.com

Cheers from Málaga, the Costa del Sol!

Sorry to hear you had to close your studio, Walder Martinez. Is it easier working at a physical location or working remotely?

Walder Martinez

Thanks, Maurice. Well, I'm very comfortable working remotely. I receive the AAF or stems by email and work here in my new studio in Spain. It's not a big enough studio to work with clients in person, but at the same time, I have the freedom to make technical and creative decisions and propose those decisions to my clients. When the work is ready, I send the stems to the Director or Producer. It's not very different from when I worked more as a composer, since I also did it alone in my studio.

You're welcome, Walder Martinez. Thanks for sharing your process. What's an AAF/stem?

Walder Martinez

I’m sorry, just technical words. An AAF is a file exported from the video editing software that can be loaded into Pro Tools or any other audio program. Stems are just mono or stereo files. Each one corresponds to an audio category:: dialogues, backgrounds, foley, music, etc.

Welcome to the community, Walder Martinez! You have a great skill set in a remote digital universe. This is the best community - you're going to meet amazing people from all corners of the world. If I hear of anything that makes sense will definitely reach out.

Side note - must be a fun time to be in Spain with the team heading to the Euro Finals!

Walder Martinez

Thank you, Sam! Yeah! And to enjoy the summer!
