My rom-com, "Goes Around," was just selected to be submitted to an independent producer in an OWA (after the strike, of course). I've been on Stage 32 since May and this is my second script to get chosen for one of these. That gives me an uneasy sense of validation. Thanks to all involved!

Thanks, everyone! I have to admit I was reluctant to join Stage 32 (due to experiences, or lack thereof, at other websites), but I've made more progress in the past four months than the previous four years. One axiom that has proved to be undeniably true since joining - writing is rewriting. Go get 'em, everybody!

You're welcome, @Jim Cushinery. Glad you're in the community. It's definitely the most supportive, motivating, and inspiring creative community I've been part of. Go get 'em too!

Jim - Any meetings from any of your OWA selections?

Yes, Richard Buzzell. I've had a couple of meetings. One was more of a general, but it did provide me with valuable insights into that particular person's POV. The more active I am on this site, the more the randomness of it comes to light. I've had the same script rejected for opposing reasons by numerous readers. Somebody loves the dialogue, while another person thinks it's weak. Same thing with pitches. Stage 32 is just a microcosm of the world in general. You'll never be able to please everyone, so you just have to find your tribe. I spend a lot of time researching executives before spending my hard-earned $ on pitches or the $$$ of meetings. If they don't have a history of projects that are at least in the same neighborhood as mine, I don't see the point of it.

Jim - Thanks for your response. Just to clarify - have your meetings been the result of your OWA selections or from pitches or script evals?

Jim Cushinery , regarding research in advance, I applaud this and make it my practice. Blind, knee-jerk submissions rarely harvest fruit. It's the same for publishing novels, articles, and creative fiction.

Richard Buzzell It's been a combo plate. A couple from the OWAs, more from the pitches and reads. But the thing is, those OWAs take forever to process. I have several that were turned over to the requesters by the Stage 32 team months ago that I've yet to hear from, one way or the other.
