Hi folks, my name is Mike McCoy and I’m in Eastern North Carolina, USA. After 20+ years of adventurous government work I’ve decided to pull a full 180 and start an entirely new career as a filmmaker! It’s a bit intimidating right now as the learning curve is nearly straight up but, I’m passionate about this work and am here for the long haul. I probably don’t have enough experience to know better but I’ve recently started a production company (croatanfilms.com) and am currently doing some freelance and small project work. I look forward to meeting some of you and working together to create something phenomenal!

Thanks everyone! Katheryn, I decided on CROATAN because I wanted to create something that had strong roots here in the Eastern Carolina area. Jacksonville, NC where the company is based, is just outside of the CROATAN National Forest. The name pays homage, in a way, to the community that raised me and also hints at the deep and rich history that exists in this area. That probably sounds a little cheesy but, it’s the honest truth behind the thought process that landed us on the name CROATAN Films.
