Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week so far. I was thinking about my first novel today and how it felt to write it. I'm sure there were short stories in my life before that, but none that stand out in my memory. Do you remember yours?

Hi, Kat Spencer. Hope you're having a great week too. I remember our teacher had us make mini books in elementary story, but I don't remember what my story was about. I do remember writing a Dexter type short story when I was 13.

I have no idea what my first one ever was, my parents said I used to make proto comics as a kid because my drawings had a storied progression. I have no clue where those drawings are lol but I know my first written story was when I was 13 and it was about an engineer whose secret identity was a ninja, and at one point she time travelled to ancient China XD

Hi Kat Spencer and I hope you are well! I remember my first story was a romance that I wrote in an old typewriter machine from my grandfather. Inspired by the romance books I read in my youth. Later, I remember to write short stories inspired by Anais Nin books, very psychologically deep :)) I remember also to have a diary and as adult I changed for journaling :))

Hi Kat Spencer -- I remember I began writing in elementary school. Handwritten on paper, of course. I got my first typewriter for Christmas in 6th grade. Started writing scripts in middle school and high school and in college I had a couple of my short stories published in the school magazine.

Oh my goodness lol My first story was a novel(i'm still working on) about a girl who explores a new world, only to discover she has pyrokinesis lol. Eventually, my passion for it led me to turn that novel into a trilogy and make a full universe out of novels. (and of course, that universe spread to my scripts as I eventually taught myself how to write screenplays lol)

First story I remember I wrote in class in HS as a freshman. I was kind of going through the motions and not trying that hard, but my teacher thought it was hilarious and she showed it to another teacher who also told me she thought it was funny. That was the first time I thought maybe I could write. I really was not looking for any positive feedback, I was just goofing around and trying to finish the assignment, but I was really kind of shook by how much my teacher thought it was a funny story and was very nice about going out of her way to say as much. I guess I've been chasing that high.

One of my first stories was about a lonely knight that travels through the kingdom and helps people along the way like fighting off bandits or hunting down wild animals that attack farmers. I wrote it when I was like 7 or 8 years old. Sometimes I consider to take it and turn it into a good story with the knowledge I have now.
Then when I was 12 years old I wrote my first novel. But I never published it. Because first my writing obviously wasn't polished enough yet at that age and also later I realized it was basically a Merlin fanfiction. It used to be my favorite show and I wanted to turn it into a version of my own. I do still love the Arthurian Legends though and apart from my screenplays I am actually working on a novel around that.

That's very inspiring to hear, Holly Fouche! Maybe I should turn some of my old stories into something strong and good now haha. I love that you turned yours into a fill universe of its own.

What I remember most about my first story was that it was handwritten. I couldn't afford a computer at the time so I wrote it all out in a notebook. I never published it or wrote it as a screenplay but someday I'd love to revisit it. It was called "Fables of Pangaea" and was meant as an anthology. The first story was about the history between the mongoose and serpents and how they became enemies. I recently made a little script poster of it to keep me inspired to revisit it.

Oh goodness...I think I narrated my first story about a mouse in a garden to my mother (who wrote it in a journal for me) when I was 5, but my first serious attempt at a dtory was in grade 7 - Artemis and other gods coming down from Olympus to the modern world. A VERY kind teacher even edited some chapters for me, bless her.

I remember doing some comic book stuff as a kid but the first sort of short story was a kind of Deliverance type thing about a group of freinds trying to evade some unsavoury characters in a jungle. It helped me pass my English exam so it must have had some merit.

You're welcome, Kat Spencer. I drew before I started writing, and I told stories with the pictures, so really, one of my drawings was my first story.

Not the first, but early and memorable: my English teacher set an elegant table/place setting in the middle of the room and asked us to write a short story about it. Mine turned into something about the mob and the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. I attended a parochial school, so I'm sure it raised a few eyebrows. I got an A, though. ;)

Sure Kat Spencer I grew up in a Plantation House built in 1822 in the 70s and it was a real actual nightmare to live there. i could never enter the house alone, even during the day!

I can’t remember my very first story, but luckily my mom saved my first script. In fifth grade, I started writing this Spy Kids-esque heist adventure on notebook paper and proudly carried it around in a bright red three-ring binder for weeks. I took it very seriously at the time. Nearly 10 years later, when I left home for film school, she gave it back to me. It’s completely ridiculous in the best way, but I’m so glad I have it. It’s such a fun reminder of where the dream began. Thanks for sparking the memory, Kat Spencer!

I wrote a story that I placed my niece as the main as the though, who’s ahead in school.. and had her run for school office, treating it like it’s for actual president and inviting real candidates to debate… ?? I don’t remember everything I do remember it was to try and work a bunch of inventions into a book format. So she was somehow inventing new things and carrying out ideas.?

This is my first story. I am learning and have only published this one.
Currently working on book number two however, that’s taking me a bit longer.
I would love some feedback!
