The words lazy and arrogant come to mind when I come across posts like this. This is someone who thinks he can click his fingers and loads of people will come running to throw their music at him. This is someone who has not even bothered to research the music for himself and is clearly incapable of writing anything approaching a brief. I notice that none of you have even asked to see whether his work is even worth having any of your music on. This is not how you get hold of a composer and composers this is the sort of guy you stay away from. Clueless, lazy and arrogant.

The worst brief and non paying gig I have scene for a while

No I don't know 'who the fuck' you are, and whether I know you or not is pretty much irrelevant. If you had written something along the lines of...... "I am a student film maker looking to work with a composer... I would have just passed by without batting an eyelid, but the way you have phrased your ad is incredibly flippant. Have you really listened to everyone's music who has posted here? Did you reply to everyone who sent you something? If you want to be treated with respect then act respectfully. Be clear what you are after. Give an example of the types of cues you are after. What did you have in mind for an action cue? Something in the style of John Powell, or maybe something that Brian Tyler would have done. At least show you have some idea what you are looking for. Post links to the sort of thing you are after or write a proper brief which might include something about the narrative of your film, it's characters and what is happening in the scene you need scored. If you can't be bothered to do that, then don't waste people's time here, just go and get yourself something from one of the royalty free sites. Good luck with your film :-)

you know, andrew, thank you, for telling me how to do it better in the future. i apologize that my words came off hostile, since I felt yours were originally, and in all honesty, this entire post is to build an arsenal for future gigs. I listen to people so i know what type of people i want to work with and you're right, I messed up with this one. you're teaching me how to make it right and i aprreciate that. The reason I made the post sound the way it sounded was because I am really trying to get myself out there. I never thought for a moment that if i said i was a student filmmaker that people would take me seriously. I am 18 years old, trying to break into the industry. I am no fake person, far from that. I just need the proper tools to stand out right. if you can tell me how to do that then great. Now, do you still view me as fake and not worth your time?

Ian is contrite and inexperienced - I can leave it at that. The issue for everyone else (pro and amateur) is getting paid for their IP whether they are a filmmaker or musician. Don't compose music for nothing it ruins the future of the "industry" for everybody. Peace
