I was born in Brooklyn before it was hip, moved to Woodstock when I was five, then back to Brooklyn when I attended grad school at NYU. I lived in Cobble Hill, and it remains one of my favorite places on earth. On my way to L.A. I made a stop in Pittsburgh to pick up an MFA in playwriting from CMU. After getting to L.A. I did a little writing for TV, a couple of small movies produced (The first one being arguably the worst movie ever made), and since have written countless screenplays and six books. My favorite Hollywood saying is by Pauline Kael, who said that "Hollywwod is the only place in the world where you can die of encouragement." Nevertheless, I remain encouraged.
