About Jonathan

A seasoned screenwriter, I am seeking traction for THREE ORIGINAL PROJECTS, interested in co-producing at least one of them. I would love to find a mature, accomplished DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, MANAGER, AGENT &/or INVESTOR to collaborate or sell to.. Years ago, I left the industry to steep myself in spiritual practice and become a psychotherapist. I studied with many of the world's foremost spiritual and psychological teachers and became quite skillful. But my filmmaking passion has returned.

My past: Disney offered to buy an original screenplay, Lee Rosenberg (Triad Artists/William Morris) repped me, Pauline Kael called to complement my work, Oscar-winning director Will Vinton hired me to write for a Saul Zaentz film, Family Feud hired me as their first writer, and six studios highly regarded me as a story analyst. Attending USC's SCA graduate program, I was encouraged to leave early because the lead screenwriting professor thought my writing ready for the big screen. My play, Desire, directed by Paul Warner, premiered at the Atlantic Theater, NYC in 2007. I received an MSW from NYU.

CURRENT PROJECTS: Raindrops in the Palm of Her Hand is based on a true story. My wife and I lost our robust 15-month-old son and almost our marriage, discovered a three-year-old girl abandoned in the Himalayas, and, against all odds, began an extraordinary odyssey to bring her home.
Adoption being illegal in Nepal, it took Nepal's Prime Minister, First Lady Hillary Clinton, U.S Senator Joseph Lieberman and several clever schemes for us to adopt Lea - now a flourishing and beautiful thirty-year-old living in Sonoma with her husband. We also adopted her now thirty-five-year-old sister, Maya, living in L.A. and also flourishing.

The Lake at the End of the World is an adaptation of my coming-of-age novel.
Obsessed with an entrancing muse twice his age, a teenage artist falls down a rabbit hole one summer on a remote Minnesota lake.

This is loosely based on my teenage adventures, set on a Midwest lake and designed for a small cast.

Last Chance is a big budget, rom-com political thriller.
After their billion-dollar art heist funds key Democratic victories, a couple are pursued by a rogue U.S. president and a Mexican cartel.

Ideal for a passionate, left-leaning producer, director, or star, it is loosely modeled on James Carville-Mary Matalin, Carey Grant-Rosalind Russell, and Dreyfus Samuelson-Lisa Herrick. The latter are my sister and brother-in-law, savvy political strategists, and this script’s consultants and story contributors. Dreyfus was chief of staff to U.S. Senator Tim Johnson for thirty years.

With appreciation in advance, I look forward to hearing from you.
