I often create comedic projects (or interesting mixes of genres), and especially love quirky characters and complex relationships. Since I was a young girl I've had an interest in writing, directing, and acting. I went to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where I studied acting and directing for theater. I also went to the Columbia Grad Film program, where I wrote, directed, and produced a strong body of film and TV projects. Many of my past projects have been honored in festivals and script contests. Since graduating from Columbia I've divided my time between writing, directing, and casting for film, TV, web series, commercials, and music videos (as both a writer and director for hire and on my own projects as well). I've also developed a strong passion for teaching and consulting actors and screenwriters. Recently one of the web series I was a staff writer for was optioned by a TV network. I'm currently in post production for a comedy web series I created and star in, as well as developing a new pilot and feature script.

Certainly getting equity status would help but I'm not geographically situated to capitalize on the kinds of productions that will earn me credit toward that. Someone with some knowledge told me to get an agent. Is that important? Are there legitimate website agencies? How do I go that route and know that I'm getting what I pay for? What should I expect? "So much time, so little to do." Sorry, I couldn't resist a favorite movie quote of mine. I do quirky well. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

While I have been writing for several years, my first break came almost two years ago when I landed my first Hollywood writing gig for Cineplex. I managed to write my way past the other writers and now hold the position as lead writer. Not only do I write for Cineplex, but I also form writing teams for individual titles that will soon be airing on ABC TV and the CW networks. When I am not writing for Cineplex, I am writing my own screenplays. To date, two of them are under option and one is currently in consideration with Millennium Nu Image Films. I thank the team at Stage 32 for making this site for all of us in the entertainment industry. That first break I mentioned was found and made on this site.
Hi, Wendy. Impressive resume! Welcome to Stage 32.
Good for you Patrina! Just remember there will be scrapes and bruises during the journey. Best to you.
Wendy, would love the opportunity to discuss what kind of daily writing habits you do and how you "wrote past" the other writers. Thanks!
You go girlfriend! I need a writer to write a feature for me. Haven't found someone I can work with that can write action for a female lead that I can option and shoot. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much Wendy for sharing your success story.

I am an actress and singer from Brazil, but never did anything to professional level, because I was not given any chance nor opportunity here, but my real dream was always to work in HOLLYWOOD . I learned English through the music, movies and always adimirei the American people for their determination and courage, I identify a lot with this as it is also a very people united, much like I am at this point, but of course I have many qualities, I never give up my dreams, I know where I'm going and I will fight for it. I was born, grew up and live in the same state they were born two beautiful models Alessandra Ambrosio and Gisele Bundchen. I know my potential and I know I can and go too far, and I know I have the ability to go londe than myself imagine.

Tim Bragg - I adore Alan Alda! He also grew up surrounded by vaudeville & burlesque, his mom was a dancer!

I love Vaudeville. I love George Burns and Gracie Allen. I did a few years ago a four page short tribute to Vaudeville, nobody liked it.
Responding many years too late Luis R. Quintero but I'd choose Nia Vardalos. She's the reason I wrote my first screenplay and I'd love to star in my own uplifting comedies as she has as well!...

Some of my favourite comedians started in Vaudeville or radio. I relate to Jack Benny because our personalities are similar and our comedy style are very much alike and he has a certain sarcasm that I also have.
I know it's probably cliche, but I'd have to say Spielberg. The guy has been my top film and storytelling influence literally since I was a kid.
