Hi! Salut! Olá! こんにちわ!

Greetings from the beautiful Silver Coast in Portugal! Happy to part of this global network. My first interaction with Stage 32 was the AMA the other day and I was pleasantly surprised to see the global reach of this platform. After retiring from a 30-year career in international business, I took th...

Hi Randy, welcome to Stage 32. Sounds like you are off to a great start in your screenwriting. I'm a screenwriter in Canada but have visited Portugal and absolutely loved the Country.

Randy Steinlauf

Hi Allan. Yeah, beautiful country and wonderful people. It’s a great place to be and easy to be productive here.

HB Duran

Hi, and welcome!!

Christopher Brown

Hi Randy, glad to hear you are hard at work. Writing is tough at the best of times! Are your scripts/stories based in Portugal?

Randy Steinlauf

Hi Christopher, No, first one is in the Middle East and second one is in France. Maybe down the road I’ll focus on a Portugal-based story. Probably should!

Moving from Final Draft- Recommendations needed

I have an old Mac with screenplays done on Final Draft, I purchased a PC this time around and am wondering if there is a way to export them to another software program that works on PC and if so which one would you recommend? Thanks!

Frank Blaney

I love Fade In. I have a Mac though.

Allan Turner

can you not just get final draft for your pc? That's what I use on mine and can share files with my Mac using friends.

Brian Walsh

Just download the pc version of FD on your new computer. Save your files in FD format if you haven't already. Then deactivate the license on the mac version and use it to license the pc version and it...

I actually enjoy Trebly...it is free but has tons of features and as with most all others can save as PDF

Doug Nelson

My advice only: Stick with FD and just transfer it to your PC - update the license - it's free.

Any tips on writing dialogue?

Been working on writing some screen plays and have two in 2nd draft status. I go over them and try and see if I made any mistakes but sometimes I feel like sometimes my dialogue might be the problem. I posted my scripts to Amazon Studios but you don't get much feedback there from the site or people...

Yep I was one of the actors who did the readings for LSF, and having different directors was great - some re-edited a lot, others did not.

Vanessa Bailey

Yes, I was also one of the actors - not one of the writers! It was fascinating. the approaches were so different. Most of my directors did cut lots, though :)

Tim John

I'm always aware of that quote from a Hollywood director who referred to a screenplay as "120 pages of suggestions"!

Vanessa Bailey

Yes - once you hand it over to the director, it's not yours any more! \O/ It's a framework, basically. :D

Chanel Ashley

Great quote, Tom, which director made, it?

Hello stage32! I am an as yet unproduced screenwriter working full time out of West Hills, California. I seem to place in all the big contests but have yet to catch on. I work as hard as I play and am currently bunkered up with a dramedy in progress about dementia, old west gunfighters and ghosts. I...

I'm new here, too. Welcome!

Thank you all!

Some times I think it's a matter of making sure the people who are really best suited to your specific work get to see it - like placing a well written magazine article - you got to get it to the right magazine. My experience is similar to yours. I tell myself, "writers write." Good luck!

Hank Dumont

Well said, Mona!

Kenya Williams

Welcome Hank! Look forward to hearing more from you, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Love of all things theatre, all things film...

Hi! I've been living in Spain for 21 years (originally from Britain). I worked as a script supervisor in the Spanish TV & Film industry before having kids, and then sidestepped into running children's theatre workshops. At the moment, I'm building an open-air theatre in a small mountain village near...

Hi Anna, though I live in Canada I have been through Granada while touring Spain. I didn't get enough time there (or anywhere) but it was a lovely area and I love your idea for the theatre there and especially the festival. Good luck I hope you draw in audiences and creatives from all around.

Anna Kemp

Hi Allan! I've just seen your comment (I'm not very used to how things work - sorry). If you like the project, is it cheeky to ask you to vote for us? We're in the running to win an award - 1st place...

I'm not terribly used to this system either but thanks for the add and I did just go vote. Good luck
