Hi guys! I’m a director/writer & producer. We just finished our first short film after 2+ years of grinding! Hoping to get accepted at some film festivals this year. I know many of you are seasoned and maybe festivals aren’t a big deal to you, but right now, to me they are everything and I’m so excited to try!

Hi Michelle, I submitted two of the three shorts I've shot to the film festival market and did quite well. Here's a link to my two films, https://linktr.ee/AutuerPreneur. One is "Come Outside" and the other is "Taken Over." Film Festivals are definitely fun. They give you a sense of pride when accepted and validation when you win an award.

Oh wow! Thank you so much everyone for your replies! I had no idea anybody had replied to my post until I got an email alert today. Gia Carol your comment is spot on…so much so that I am emotional right now. Not having a great day today and you guys have no idea how much seeing these comments lifted my spirits. Definitely needed this today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :’-)
I’ve entered 17 festivals so far and been rejected by one but did win an award of merit from the Best Shorts competition! Sheldon Woodson you are right about the feeling of validation. I swear it’s a miracle any film project gets finished because there is so much beyond your control. We’ll see how the rest go over the next few months. Again, thank you so much everyone for your kind words. It means a lot!

I personally use Filmfreeway.com to submit my projects to festivals. I view them as a way to get across-the-world feedback and exposure to something you created. It is exciting waiting for the results. I found their deals page allows up to 25-70% off festival fees so I submit for $6-$12 which is not bad. I have created 4 short films and feature screenplays where I also submit to Openscreenplay.com and Coverfly.com. Good Luck!
