Screenwriting : Your Time is Up by Wendy Appelbaum

Wendy Appelbaum

Your Time is Up

Head down since August working on a comedy feature - the result of an excellent mentorship program.

A fragile woman with an unhealthy reliance on her helicopter parents gets a chance at growth and redemption when both she and her fed-up therapist are held hostage in a dysfunctional bank robbery.

Comp: No Hard Feelings meets Bandits

Maurice Vaughan

Great to see you on here again, Wendy Appelbaum! Would you recommend writers take a mentorship program?

Bill Brock

Wendy Appelbaum BRAVO, WENDY! This one sounds like a REAL WINNER! Looking forward to seeing it someday. Best of luck with it!

Wendy Appelbaum

Hey Maurice Vaughan definitely but with the right person. I am so appreciative for everything I learned.

Wendy Appelbaum

Bill Brock Well we shall see,. Either way I'm happy to have written it and learned a lot.. now I need to go back and fix my other scripts :)

Maurice Vaughan

I've had mentors, but I've never done a mentorship program, Wendy Appelbaum. Maybe one day.

Mario Leone

Wendy Appelbaum what inspired you to write this?

Wendy Appelbaum

Mario Leone Good question - the focus changed from a previous version that I had written years ago where a patient was obsessed with therapy to something more focused on the impact of helicoptering... I definitely was not working from an outline on this one :)

Jed Power

How much do mentorship programs cost?

Ty Strange

Congrats on having an excellent mentorship, Wendy Appelbaum! What's next for your feature?

Wendy Appelbaum

Ty Strange Thanks. Come New Year going to pitch it... We shall see...

Wendy Appelbaum

Jed Power It depends on who and the program. Depends on where you're at in your career and what you're looking to get out of it

Ty Strange

How exciting, Wendy! Keep us posted as you pitch the script in the new year.

Wendy Appelbaum

Thank you - it still needs some work I believe but working hard to push it over the finish line.

Alister Brooks

Pushing it through the finish line always seems to be the hardest part. I love the concept and dynamic. Best of luck and keep hammering the rock.

Wendy Appelbaum

Thanks so much - we shall see! What are you working on?

Alister Brooks

Me? I'm finishing up a draft of a spec I'm working on called "Epoch." Couple weeks of tuning (pushing it through the finish line) and it will be ready for the first batch of feedback. No rest for the weary...

Wendy Appelbaum

Good for you! If you're looking for feedback in the New Year let me know.

Robin Gregory

Hey Wendy Appelbaum, this looks terrific! It feels a little like The Ref, one of the greatest movies ever. I wish you much success with this, and look forward to hearing more about the project.

Jed Power

Wendy, What mentorship program?

Jed Power

Maurice and Wendy, Where is a good mentorship pogram, please?

Wendy Appelbaum

I've posted the link to the program - it was amazing. I learned a ton - the mentorship program is listed at the bottom of the page - http://www.nobullscript.net/products-page/

Wendy Appelbaum

Thank you so much Robin Gregory I loved that movie.. I wish it was in that category :)

Jed Power

Thanks, Wendy but I guess I haven't kept up with the times & prices! $1,400! maybe someday if I am ever in the chips again. Rught now I am financially embarrassed!

Robin Gregory

My pleasure, Wendy Appelbaum. You go! Thank you for the script services referral. They seem pretty reasonable.

Wendy Appelbaum

Hi Jed Power I get it.. believe me.. I had been thinking of it for a while and also don't apply to contests - so using the funds I do have for that :)
