Is it ok to use more than 3 lines of dialogue?

In one of my screenplays, a character has five lines of dialogue. It is a speech, since he is sending some troops to war. It's just this one time...should I change it to have less lines or is it ok to leave it like this? Thanks for answering!:)

Thank you Lee and Kimite...appreciate the kind words... Blessings to all ...and keep Writing...and yes...make your films and or movies...!!!!!!!!!

Frank G. Lind

Always use as many lines as needed to move the story foward. If it DOES NOT move your story forward then that's where you start deleting.

Go find some produced scripts on the Internet. (If you can find any, I will get you one or more lists.) Look through them. Some of the greatest scenes in the movies have speeches with well over 5 line...

Just posted some loglines. Would love to see what you guys think.

Hey Gary! Got a chance to read through your loglines. When I'm putting together a logline I try to make sure it has 4 key components: A main character, an opponent, a situation and a goal. As an examp...

Calling all screenwriters!

Small production studio requesting short film scripts from all genre's. Please have a solid logline with link to script. We are eager to produce 4-5 of them this year, as well as partner with a few really creative screenwriters to help bring some of our idea's to life and build relationships with.

Frank G. Lind

What genre? How many pages to you consider short?

Gary A. Jonezy

I am a huge fan of thrillers, and dramedies. Page count is anywhere from 7-15 pgs roughly. More interested in a great story than anything else.

Margaret Avnet

Hi Gary: Would you be interested in reading a script about a Northern Irish couple one Catholic the other Protestant? Message me and I can send the script over to you if you are interested.

What Lengths Do You Got To For Researching Your Work?

I have recently read a a book about Andy Kaufman by his close friend Bob Zamuda - and in the early chapters he discusses a job he had as an assitant to a screenwriter he calls Mr X (apparently Norman Wexler screenwriter of Saturday Night Fever and Serpico) who would drive around with three tape reco...

I agree that writing what you know is a good idea. For me, it's a start. But that won't stop me if I'm fascinated by an unfamiliar subject, then I use the script as an excuse to get into it. And it's...

A big problem with writing screenplays is persuading the characters to move out of your house after the screenplay is finished. They tend to follow you around for a while.

That being said David, my characters have usually always been with me. All my neurosis and faults seem to find their way into each of my characters

Needed: script reviewers

After a long month of restructuring and deletion, my script is finally in an acceptable form. Now, all I need is a few people who wouldn't mind to read it and give some creative critical analysis of it. It's currently at 134 pages. That's down from 276. If you would like to assist in this, please me...

You logline needs to sum up your entire script in about two sentences. It has to give enough information to peak someone's interest. Go to IMDB and read the loglines of movies similar to yours or popular movies, good movies.
