How do you make a TV series "bible"?

As luck would have it, I may soon have an opportunity to talk to a cable channel producer who is looking for some fresh material. In case that opportunity indeed happens, I've been brainstorming a concept for a dramatic series. This isn't something I'd imagined doing--so I'm learning all in a rush h...

It was my understanding that the bible contained everything, script, characters, arcs, synopsis and anything else you have. Make it as detailed as possible because that is what all involved will turn to when there is a problem or question.

Thomas Bailey

Hey Molly, sorry for the late response. I actually have helped people do these before (one actually sold the show). I don't typically do the writing but I do help make it look good (10+ years as a graphic design for the entertainment world).

Lourvey Bourdan

Great luck girlfriend, I learned something new from your post. I hope everything works out!

What are your writing habits?

What do you always do when you write? Do you need a certain piece of music/do you have a set schedule? What small things do you do before you start writing?

i wish i could wake up at 6 and write everyday! But the weather is not doing good to me.

I wish I could wake up every day!

I don't get to write everyday around this holiday season, but my mind works on story outlining, plot and character details etc. But isn't that all part of writing, especially as I'm still in first dra...

Features vs Pilots?

I'm looking to pitch my Sci Fi Pilot, but some production companies insist Sci Fi features only? I guess that excludes Pilots, so where to pitch a pilot script for a TV Series?

Marilyn Du Toit

http://www.networkisa.org/writing-gigs.php follow this link there is a gig for middle east west script, and one for comedy series. Otherwise sign on there and they email you gig notifications....

Thanks Joey!

Had a script in the finals of the Happy Writers contest last year. Which was amazing and encouraging and a bit of a validation that maybe my writing wasn't all crap. And I've been participating in Joey's pitch sessions for a while now. There's nothing like that feeling you get when you check your em...

InkTip

Has anyone here ever used InkTip.com? I'm considering listing a feature script there and would love to hear of successes or failures.

Danny Manus

Exactly. If you've got a $7M or under project, InkTip can be great and they have gotten a large number of movies made. However, if it's a budget bigger than that, you're probably better off using other avenues.

Sue Melanson

So it sounds like a good resource for someone starting out.

Byron Scot

Hello Sue, I used to have a script or two on Inktip. Kerry and Danny are right: if its a lower budget indie film, then I suggest you give it a shot. Jerrol LeBaron and his staff are very polite and wi...

How many re-writes?

I write and write. Then I think of something different and change something again. When should I just stop writing and leave it alone?

Matthew Swartz

To me it's not just writing that matters, but re-writing. I've never rewritten or changed something in my scripts that didn't make it better. Read movie reviews (Roger Ebert) to learn what to do and w...

You stop writing after you have sent it out to friends in the industry and a script doctor (me) and they say it is terrific. Although everyone will have a different opinion. Everyone! SO you have to be the final judge. DerynWarren.com

Looking for Managers open to new screenplays
