"The Lunch Date"

Hey all- After 6+ years as a RED technician within the Film Industry, and am finally looking to launch out and kick off my own Productions. I have spent around 2 years locating what I consider to be an Excellent collection of Writers/Short Scripts, assembling a enviable collection of gear suitable f...

Hi Stephen, first of all going through the free resources on Stage 32 is an EXCELLENT place to start. I recommend reaching out to Steve Desmond for advice when you're ready.

Doug Nelson

Stephen, what’s “The Lunch Date”? The original Lunch Date was shot in B/W on 16mm in 1968/69 and won an OSCAR for best live action short – are you thinking a re-make?

Stephen Balsley

I'm familiar with the film. There is also another well recognized film with same title from 1990, among others. So far, we are shooting with a fairly generic descriptive title, but that may change as we get closer to finishing the project.

Doug Nelson

Stephen, I don’t get what you’re looking for – you have scripts, gear, cast, crew, location…everything you need. But it sounds like this is your first time out on your own. If that’s the case, finding...

Crowdfunding for a 30min film, where to start?

I have a script for a 1930's mob film. I have locations, I'm casting, I'm rewriting drafts. Where and how should I start my crowdfunding. I've never tried before and it's only because I want it to be as real as possible with rental cars from the era, replica firearms, and wardrobe. That's not even t...

I'll have to look into reenactments but I do have a ton of filmmaking networks here that I know would help out. So I think I'll see what I can find about 1930's reenactment. Thanks for the advise!

Tony Glaser

At least I'm not on a tight timeline so I can do more research.

Rafael Pinero

Wow, interesting, so how does someone get a crowd for crowd funding?

Franklyn Galusha

Hi Rafael How to get a crowd for your crowd funding project depends on how creative you are. Everyone starts by asking friends, family and associates to help, but that only gets you so far. Somewhere...

Yeah I'm currently looking into some historic associations with ties do the content of the film. As well as looking into well populated areas on the internet that share the same interests as whats in the film. Starting to build that crowd.

Welcome, Dan! Great to meet you on Stage 32!

Franklyn Galusha

Glad to meet you Dan, I've been helping people with their Crowdfunding for the last couple of years and social networking for over 20 years. Maybe we can have a discussion to see if we can help each other sometime! Best regards, Franklyn

Dan Laske

I would enjoy that.. Also, are you on Facebook?

Franklyn Galusha

Yes...But I'm in the process of starting up a new page. I'm going to set up a campaign to find actors and producers on Facebook to join the page, As a little experiment!.

Dan Laske

This all sounds very exciting.. Best of luck and stay in touch! :)

Are you looking for help with your crowdfunding or social networking and audience engagement for your film? We'd like to help!

There's a process almost every filmmaker must go through before they can successfully launch a crowdfunding campaign. It usually starts about six months before they start asking for money. This is when they start putting together their outreach campaign. Without a solid outreach campaign you're not...

How many voice actors have looked int/ considered doing audio books? On the business end of Audibles they have a program where if the author is willing to give 50% to the reader, then audibles gives them 90% of sales. I work with a bunch of authors and we were playing with the idea of casting audiob...

Audible does NOT give readers 50%. Those days are long gone. It stinks.

Bettye - It just means more books per month, right?
