Having working on and off in the industry for nearly 20 years now it has become frustratingly hard for me now due to health reasons. As well as acting, creating make up fx I also worked for the NHS back in the day where I sustained an injury that was going to make life extremely difficult. Working through the pain barrier on a daily basis I still do as much as I can if not acting or creating fx I write, produce and direct. Because of the majority feedback that I may as well quit due to my disabilities and lack of opportunities I decided to open a small studio in my hometown to try and create more work and help others like myself with both physical and mental health problems whether visible or not. Maybe not the best time to start the day before second lock down in the UK but hey We are still kicking for now. This despite going back to work delivering meds to those worse than myself. This last year we have still managed to win several awards for short films and scripts to which I am super proud of my team for their efforts. Hopefully if my abilities allow me here's to the next 20 years.

Apologies for the late introduction. Had a rough weekend. As an actor and film maker who suffers Fibromyositis, CFS, RAS and Osteoarthritis all due to an injury I often find when it comes to finishing long stints of work I am so wrecked even looking at a computer is painful. However here I am. Been part of Stage 32 for quite some time. Don't get much opportunity to push things lately as writing takes longer than usual so concentrating more on pushing work I already have in place. Had a few acting gigs and make up fx gigs recently so busy busy. Good to see everyone doing well.

So I receive an email suggesting to come on introduce yourself. So hi everyone, hope you are all well amidst these crazy times. I disappeared off the scene for sometime due to my health and also when Covid hit I decided to return to caring in a way to help those who need it more. As well as this I have been working hard on getting my new small studio ready for launch next year. I decided to go for a new studio as I was finding work and recognition ridiculously hard here in the North East of England, UK. I don;t have money to keep submitting everywhere and acting jobs are all south England or USA. I struggle to write after developing CFS after an accident at work that left me with Fibromyositis and RAS. I recently had 2 discs removed from the top of my spine resulting this so this year has been a strange one to say the least. Next year however I aim to come back with a bang. I may not be able to write like I used to and can;t afford a ghost writer but I do have scripts that I would like to see developed. So fingers crossed next year I might just get the chance I feel I deserve and I truly hope you all follow your dreams and passions and also get a chance to shine. Stay safe everyone.

After I was diagnosed with Fibro Myositis (caused via an accident at work) and CFS (later developed Restless Arm Syndrome due to the pair) I was told by many including family to quit following my dreams as I will never succeed now. Yes it is extremely hard to continue what I love doing but I refuse to give in and I am determined to prove them all wrong. Anything to do with film making from acting to directing, writing to make up fx I love it. I know my first big break is round the corner - I have worked so hard for it and I know people are starting to look at my work. I do feel there should be more support for sufferers of Invisible Illness' (not just mental health) and I can't stress enough no matter the obstacles if you love what you do keep doing it. I was so proud to have seen our latest music video we created for a band released and see the amount of views it received in it first week. I won't share as not sure if it is spamming. Does anyone know of any good grant systems for someone based in the North East of England UK, over 40 and male. I say this because everytime I look, most grants are aimed at students, under a certain age, women film makers or in the USA/Canada. I am desperate to make a documentary/film based on my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibro Myositis and Restless Arm Syndrome. The reason for this is I still find people do not recognise any of the above as an actual illness/disability. I want to express (in detail) exactly what it is I suffer to make people aware. I have suffered major issues with pass jobs and managers who feel I make it up or am just lazy. I have worked all my life (as well as doing my film making). It was not until I had an accident at work which left permanent damage that I developed the CFS/RAS as well as heart complications. CFS is horrible. I fight it every day and every day I feel worn out with it. I won't quite... ever however I want people to understand what it is like. It is a disability and is an illness. If anyone knows of any help I can get I would be hugely appreciative as this is so important to me. Many thanks in advance.

So frustrating when you get a possible investor saying we might be able to help but we need sales predictions from a distributor then the distribution companies will only say we will give you estimates when we see the completed film/ Well how the smeg are we meant to get the film finished to show distributors when we need the money to do so. What's more frustrating is the film is filmed we just need small funds for post production! Arghh!

Anyone know of any agents/managers that take on a small group as well as individuals. I write with 2 others as well produce and direct etc and we go by the Thompson Brothers as we all share the same surname yet are in now way related (yet probably get on better than some brothers do!). We couldn't be more diverse either. Bermuda, Florida and the North East of England UK. Would love some info or advice of how we can go about finding an agent to take on all of us together. We work so well together especially writing and directing.

Just found out today that my feature has 100% funding. It's a great day. To be honest, I really didn't think it would happen but it did lol!
