Asif Balouch's Lounge Discussions

I've only been on Stage 32 for a couple weeks and have been getting "producers" wanting to be part of their network and then messaging me promising to produce my scripts and such but then they want a fee in the thousands of dollars? I've reported two so far.

Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself -- my name's Mike Thompson, veteran Hollywood writer/producer of feature films, Dragonfly, starring Kevin Costner, and Love Happens, featuring Jennifer Aniston. I also co-created the FOX television series, John Doe, and have written and produced indie film and award-winning documentary features as well. In addition to my produced credits, I've written and sold dozens of high-profile spec scripts, pitches and teleplays to nearly every major Hollywood studio, including multiple seven-figure deals and at one point, the “highest-paying scripter deal ever" ~ Variety. I've collaborated on projects involving the likes of Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Will Smith, Edie Falco, Chris Pine, Richard Gere, Michael Keaton, Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis, and blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In my role as a Script Consultant and Screenwriting Coach, I'm always looking for better ways to appeal to and provide value for my potential clients. So, aspiring screenwriters out there, I ask -- what are you most in need of help with (ie. loglines, structure, pitching, finding representation, etc.) and how do you prefer to receive said help (ie. webinars/workshops, e-courses, Zoom consultations, etc.)?

My name is Shayla. I'm from Austin, Texas. I've been interested in screenwriting since 2016 when I took A/V classes in high school. I graduated from SFASU in 2023 with a Bachelor's in filmmaking and minor in creative writing. I have a finished horror feature length script that I'm looking to get feedback on, and submit to screenplay competitions. My end goal is to get my screenplay produced. It is more than welcome if anyone would like to connect and offer feedback or advice.

Hi ya'll, I'm Asif (AH-sif, like Joseph but with an AH instead of a Joe). I'm clickity clacking away from Houston, TX. Have been working on my craft for years since graduating from college in 2010. Over the years I've been compiling an arsenal (five and counting) of fun and captivating popcorn flicks that make people think (horrors, action comedies, dramedys). I'd love to see my work get produced and shown on the silver screen or at least use my work as a calling card to show my storytelling chops and collaborate. I only have one script that's been produced, a local indie short called Black Flag that's still yet to be released. I'm introverted af but know the next step in my journey is putting myself out there and networking, pushing out query letters to whoever will bother reading them, as well as entering into contests. Excited to get to know other writers and filmmakers, possibly collaborate, and hopefully move this dream of mine from a hobby to something more.
