See-saw.

Anybody go back and forth with how they feel about their work? Some days I feel like my pieces are really good, then other days I feel like they're the worst pieces of crap ever written. I think that's probably normal for writers. Well, I hope anyway..

Phil Clarke

Absolutely normal. Such self-doubt is the burden we must bear and learn to manage. It should pass. If it doesn't, have a closer look at why you think your work isn't your best.

Frankie Gaddo

Not with my completed works. But my works in progress, yes. I go from thinking I'm creating the greatest thing ever to thinking what I'm working on is utterly terrible, questioning myself on how I could have spent so long on something that seems to lack so much. See-saw is right.

Jeff Caldwell

Yeah Frank you're right usually when I feel that way about a completed work I can reread it and I'll feel better. It's a lot worse with unfinished products.

Kelvin Martians

It gets weird atimes, but you will always have that gut feeling after reading your work. Either crappy or awesome. Also

You might need someone else close to you to have a read and then give you their take on it.

I was just going through this feeling this week. Especially being one of the new comers in the industry, I find myself at times doubting my work because I don't yet have that track record and i.m stil...

Scene Heading

Which of the following scene headings is the correct format? Feel free to correct it if both are incorrect.

1) INT. HOUSE - HALLWAY - NIGHT

John Doe stands outside the bedroom door...

2) EXT. BEDROOM - HOUSE - NIGHT

John Doe stands outside the bedroom door...

Eric Christopherson I've never actually used this method in my scripts thus far, but I am glad you gave this example. Definitely storing in my memory bank. I can see this method being useful in some i...

EXT. BEDROOM

KISS... keep it simple and write visually, omit redundancies. The camera is inside; it's INT. Where is it looking? In a hallway, so we got INT. HALLWAY. It's dark outside, so we got INT. HALLWAY - NIG...

Thank you very much for this Doug Nelson This actually also clarified some other things I've been pondering on based off of what I've come across in some scripts. Appreciate this little crash course!...

Loving Stage32

Almost everyone I have spoke to on here has been kind, patient, and willing to help! Thanks to everyone I have made connections with, and if we haven't met yet, give me a follow! Let's talk film together.

Logan Palmer

Hey Eric! I am brand new to the city, and I am very excited to be in SD! Although I hear you on the cost of living... no joke! I am curious to see what the film community is like in the area, did you have any luck meeting like-minded writers or film makers?

Eric Christopherson

At the time I was just doing novels Logan and there was a community for that. I don't know about the film people down there. Of course LA is only a two hour drive away so you could take advantage of that by networking with LA people.

Ben Madeley

Great to see someone else loving Stage 32 !! I feel it's really good to connect with others. It's already helped me lots.

Imo Wimana Chadband

When you have a good script: Proper Steps?

I have written a feature script I am proud of. I have entered it in a few large festivals (500+ entries), but I feel like in massive contests like this even great scripts can get passed by. What steps should I take to get my script read by the right person, or perhaps someone who could give it great...

Kay,

Thank you for your advice! I think I will focus less on festivals, and more on getting my script into the hands of someone in the industry. I would love to grab lunch and hear more about your experience in film! I'm sure I could learn a lot.

Thanks again

Sam Borowski
