Just optioned my first screenplay! Can't say much beyond that for now, and I know it's probably lame to announce that since it doesn't exactly mean a film is being made. Just to add some context, I've been at this for about five years, so this may give hope to others to know that persistence does pay off!

Well done Toby. The first thing I ever wrote was a good script. But I never thought it had a chance once I develop some skill. Six years later someone wanted an option on it. I thought why not, some fun money. This thing is never getting made.
Looks like it is going to go ahead. It took a bucket load or rewrites to get it into shape. I am just hope that the Aussie dollar drops on the day of production. That is when they give me the final payment in US Dollars.
Let hope it see some screen time. Rewrite as much as you feel comfortable. Remember it is all yours, even their requested changes until they buy it from you. Exciting times.

Toby, announce it, man! Be proud you achieved something that is not easy to do, it's a nice accomplishment. As someone who also wrote an optioned script, I know it's an amazing feeling, and I'm happy for you. Like you said, when someone reads your post, their hope kicks in and they might say, " I can do that too, let me keep going. " Patience and persistence are our allies! Bravo, sir!

You've already accomplished more than like 90% of people that have started a screenplay. Be proud. I've gotten things produced and even I can't say I've optioned a screenplay.
