I've got a few scripts posted on Inktip.com Does anyone have anything (good or bad) to say about the company? Just curious as to whether they are legit or just after the almighty dollar.

Very exciting to travel to all those places :) I am really looking forward to go to China, we are shooting across four provinces. And three of those I havent been before, so it is really interesting for me
Good, there are many beautiful shooting locations in China, enjoy.
Thank you, I will for sure
I am a traditionally published author (see my works at amazon.com/author/mrben) looking at collaborating with movie producers, directors, executives and other creatives.
How can I be of service?
Representation, movie adaptations and possibly, other secondary rights uses. Is it something you could work on? Is it possible for you to act as a movie producer for my books, theatrical producer for my plays, representative to my publications for secondary rights uses?
Thank you for thinking of me. I am not able to do any of those things for you. I wish I could but I am a struggling artist myself. I do wish you the best of luck! God bless your work too! Michael

I've been a Teamster for 30 years, so I understand (somewhat) unions: what they're supposed to do, what they actually do, the union/company tensions, collective bargaining, etc.
What does the WGA do? They represent writers, right? But to become a member, you have to earn 24 credits in a WGA jurisdiction. That's a shit ton of work completed on union jobs - BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN JOIN THE UNION! Anybody see the Catch-22 here? You have to work on several union jobs as a non-union writer (which many prodcos won't even hire in the first place) before you can be a member!
WTF WGA!
To join the Teamsters, all you gotta do is pay your dues and work in a union shop. Period.
Let's take it into the film biz.
The DGA reps, directors, ADs, UPMs - even PAs! And joining pretty much means working on a union project and paying your dues (there's some other quals, but that's the meat of it)
SAG reps actors in every medium, at every level. Just 3 days as a background, and pay your dues - and you're a member.
WGA: beyond the 24 credits thing (look at the points list - you pretty much have to strike gold on a spec script to earn a fraction of what's needed), they DON'T rep anyone else in the writers' room - WPAs, Assistants, Coordinators, no one!
WTF WGA!
What a weak-ass and elitist organization. Why would anyone want to join? I don't.
Okay, I'm through now...
Excellent! Best of luck to you brother!

Thus, the irony. ;) And of course, now, in this modern era, there's the unfortunate "net" solution to catching the suicidal factory workers in China, who attempt to take their lives in mass, due to low pay, repetitive motion injuries, and overwork. But shhh, no one wants to talk about that. Sad.

I'm new to this page but I've been on Stage 32 for a few years now. I've had some recent success having a well known producer read and like one of my TV pilot scripts. He has given me his permission to use his name in trying to sell the project. This is a huge opportunity for me but now I feel stuck. I'm not sure what the next steps are to take. Is this the point where I need a literary agent to try to sell the script for me? Or should I be pitching it myself? Please let me know whatever advice you have to give. Thanks! Michael

Expand commentJack, Thanks for the note. I'm spring boarding off of Evan S. Smith's book "Writing Television Sitcoms". On page 191 and 192 he defines the job of a "literary agent" or "lit" agents. He states that an agent is primarily a salesperson who spends most of his days - pitching his clients to prospective employers - (dealing) with particular networks, studios, and production companies. So, I think I'm looking for a literary agent to help me sell the project. Does that make sense to you? Thanks for the link I will check it out for certain! Michael

Expand commentMichael: I might be at fault here, but I believe it is the use of the term “Literary Agent” that is causing confusion.
To my knowledge a “LITERARY” Agent deals solely with literature (i.e. Fiction manuscripts aimed at an academic or similar type of reader). When I write a screenplay it is not literature - it can’t be. It is in a completely different format, with etheral subject, that is here and minutes later - gone. Literature is supposed to last the ages - like Shakespeare etc.
Very well… now, if it is not a literary agent who pedals screenplays - who does? An IP (Intellectual Property) Agent, an Entertainment Agent, a movie script agent.
Last night I searched QueryTracker.com - unless it is buried in the agent’s profile - I could not find one agent dealing with movies or screenplays - ALL were for book publishers. Likewise the AAPR.org (American Assoc. of Publishing Representatives), I do believe is solidly for book publishing. I hope this makes it a bit clearer - but be warned - I might be in error.
-- Keep creating,
Jack.

Expand commentJack, I hope to find an agent who deals with all that you have listed: "IP (Intellectual Property) Agent, an Entertainment Agent, a movie script agent" What ever kind of agent does that! I appreciate the advice from you. I'm just using definitions I have found in the books by the "experts". I have a tiger by the tail and I'm in need of a lion tamer! To mix some metaphors, I've landed on the 5th or 6th rung of a ladder without walking up the first few. So I have a great TV sitcom producer interested in working with me. But I do not have the necessary pieces in place to hire him. Normally an agent or the purchasing/producing network would get the script to the producer after hiring them. At least I think that is how it normally works. Anyway, thanks again! I'll keep you guys posted if I get any answers. Michael

Although he passed on the script because his company, Unique Features - (THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, The A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET films,
HAIRSPRAY,
THE GOLDEN COMPASS,
WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS,
"Shadowhunters" (Freeform), and
THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES), wouldn't produce the type film I was pitching. He said he was impressed with my delivery and indicated that I was organized and clear. He didn't know it was my first time ever pitching and I was pretty freaked out all day today knowing it was coming!
Most important to me was that he laughed at the right places in my story!
Anyway, I'm really thankful for his time and I feel very encouraged to pitch again.
BIG THANKS to Stage 32 for getting me in front of a real professional. I'm so grateful for your help!
I have two other full length scripts and a TV pilot or two. So keep your fingers crossed and keep me in your prayers. It was a great experience all around for me. I am so blessed to be able to exercise my creative side.
Thanks to all my family and friends who were praying for me! You guys are great!
Peace!
Michael

Hey Carlv; I made a sale on inktip last year, and have three options. I don't know about the 20 million budgets, but I have been checked out by Universal Pictures, as well as Joe Dante's production company via that site.
