Hi guys. Im currently writing a Scottish/English/danish screenplay. My story takes places in the 16th century so I was hoping someone know where to find a site, person, book or anything that can help me learning gaelic, or translate my English word into gaelic.
Stay safe and healthy
Sille
Thank you all for your comments, I have found the right site and the right people, - I know I can't use duolingo to translate, but it wouldn't mind learning the language either so I know what im writing- But thank you all for taken your time to reach out on my post. :-D
Guess you're right Emily, anyway on serious note Eoin's right any civilized language in the world would have major influences five centuries apart...you'll need not only linguist but probably historian too...
Agreed, and that's what I've got for my television series. Sille, If you're going to write a script, what I have found works best (and it's a little more work, but it's fun) write it in English, then...

Sille, If you're going to write a script, what I have found works best (and it's a little more work, but it's fun) write it in English, then make a copy of that script and tweak the dialogue to Scottish Gaelic, but as they said above, the 16th century adds a whole new level to the Gaelic language.

Right, so it's been passed to me to do this. The Thistle Legacy is in need of an Executive Producer that can fund or get funding for at least the Pilot. Please message me ASAP if you're interested.
Just optioned my first screenplay! Can't say much beyond that for now, and I know it's probably lame to announce that since it doesn't exactly mean a film is being made. Just to add some context, I've been at this for about five years, so this may give hope to others to know that persistence does pay off!
Congratulations! So happy for you!
Congrats, and thanks for sharing, because it is inspirational to hear about another writer's success.
Great work and thanks for posting. Posting about a success is always welcome in my book. We are all here hoping for even small-ish victories, and you show that there is a path. Best of luck and let us know how you progress with this.
A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Dan!

I'm a soon-to-be 4-time published author.
My current project: The Thistle Legacy: A Scottish Mystery-Drama Television series, is in pre-production and scheduled to start filming at the end of May 2021.
My other projects include two feature films: Shakespeare in New York and The Treasure of Loch Arkaig. I also have a native American western drama I'm co-writing with a friend, White Dove.
I'm assisting my bestie who is writing a great storyline for Elena and the Samurai by formatting it into a script (she hasn't decided if she wants it to be a tv mini-series or a feature film).
Looking forward, 2021 is a great year. I'm where I need to be geographically and I'm loving it!
I don't write novels, luv. I do screenwriting and novel to script conversions. I occasionally do short stories, 1500 words maximum. When I was younger I got a copy of the Screenwriter's bible and then was hooked and that's all I've written is ready for production scripts.
Sorry, I saw it as "novel writing", not "novel adaptation". Definitely two different things! Wow, that is true love right there - The Screenwriter's Bible can be a dry read, so if that got you hooked,...

Wow, that is true love right there - The Screenwriter's Bible can be a dry read, so if that got you hooked, your heart was already in it! Do you write screenplays more for television or film? Do you mainly write for the UK?
I do screenplays for both film and television. Right now my focus is on my Scottish mystery-drama television series The Thistle Legacy, due to start production 21st of May. I find the UK industry a lot more welcoming than the US. The US has become so cutthroat over the years, it's horrible.

Congrats ! Are ya going to solve the mystery how Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade died?,
No, Peter, that's not what my show is about.
I thought so, I was just being daft.
I am proud to announce that Wolfe Productions/John Wolfe have signed on to take the reins and The Thistle Legacy is now in Pre-production looking to start filming end of May 2021!!

Is the writer/creator of a tv series the one who procures the funding, or is that to be undertaken by the producer? I have found conflicting information on this and wish to clarify. I am a creator/writer of a 65+ episode television series and would like to know. Thank you in advance.

Expand commentHey Alejandro Marello - for features, it generally it depends on what is negotiated and whether the writer is a WGA writer or not. WGA sets "minimums" for an amount a screenwriter must be paid for a script. Non-WGA writers are a little bit more at the mercy of buyers when it comes to fees. Ultimately a sale may be a percentage of final budget when the project goes into production or a negotiated fee plus any additional work or "steps" done by the writer during the development process. Buyers are usually studios or independent financiers who "buy" scripts for the producers to produce. Hope that helps! Happy to discuss further over email j.mirch@stage32.com
Alejandro Marello It's your script - you can make whatever deal you want. It just depends on what the buyer is wiling to agree to.

Expand commentWell, he knew from the first communication that there was no funding and it was his job as producer to secure the funding. We got as many scenes as possible done for free using locations I had secured. As the writer, I was very conscientious about utilising 'free' locations for different scenes. But there's some important scenes that need specific locations, and I've even suggested to him how to film them (from things I've learned in the past as crew on other film projects), but he won't do it. We started this in 2021, and the pilot is still not finished. :(

Emily A Dinwiddie say what? The producer won’t do the promo? It sounds like you have the wrong person for the job!

I agree. It's looking that way.
